Northvale Korting Ltd is an
engineering company based in Leicester primarily
involved in valve production for the process
industry. Northvale, recognised
in the sector as a high quality valve
manufacture, have been in business at the
Leicester site for over 30 years.
Northvale had a computerised business
system in place for 20 years and although it was
functional, it was in need of modernisation and
very costly in maintenance charges. It was also
lacking in a number of operational areas and
didn’t fully support all the internal business
processes.The key areas Northvale
needed to address with a new business system

Northvale
initially evaluated six different systems and
short-listed this down to three. The three
potential systems were extensively tested with
data on each of the vendors’ sites, along with
complete review of what was being offered in the
package of hardware, software and
implementation. The
Redthorn Groups’
e-scope
product was ultimately selected following a
thorough evaluation of the relative strengths
and weaknesses of all three short-listed
options. A seventeen user system with
data–capture touch screens was installed in May
2002. The initial part of the project was to
transfer existing data from the legacy system.
This part of the implementation was completed
ahead of schedule and without any problems. |

The training and
implementation was carried out from July to
August, and with the users very quickly
accepting the new system,
e-scope
was able to go live on 1st September 2002.
By working in close partnership, we at
Northvale have added functionality
through suggesting enhancements to the system.
e-scope responded positively to the
requests and many of these suggestions were
implemented into the system.
Northvale are very pleased with
the both the speed and ease of implementation
and the functionality of
e-scope.

Recent additions to
e-scope
which are adding further value to the system
include the new
RedALERT
module. This feature has proved invaluable as an
extra control to the company in the form of
automatic e-mail alerts. This automatically
warns management of key information such as jobs
overrunning, deliveries due, material not
delivered etc.
